Volleyball: Smith-Cotton drops Lady Jays

SEDALIA - The Sedalia Smith-Cotton Lady Tigers posted a 19-25, 25-20, 25-22 win against Jefferson City in volleyball action Monday night.

Baylee Rozier led the Lady Jays (1-3) with five kills, while Tatum Gaines added four.

Janice Steacy dished out 14 assists, Gaines had three aces and Maddi Stone and Gaines had two blocks apiece.

Cameryn Campbell had a team-high 18 digs, while Stone had 16, Cara Caby had 12 and Megan Bleidistel had 11.

In the JV match, Jefferson City posted a 25-17, 25-21 win.

Veronica Allison had 10 service points for the Lady Jays (3-1), Tori LePage had five kills and Madison Creach had five assists.

Jefferson City won the freshman match 25-16, 26-28, 25-9.

Micah Linthacum had five kills, five blocks and six aces for the Lady Jays (1-3). Maddie Jones added 13 service points.

Jefferson City will play tonight at Helias. The freshman and JV matches will both be played at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity match to start at approximately 6:30 p.m.
