MONTREAL (AP) - P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty each had a goal and an assist and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 on Saturday night to extend their season-opening winning streak to nine games.
The Canadiens are a victory away from tying the NHL record set by the Maple Leafs in 1993-94 and matched by Buffalo in 2006-07. Montreal is at Vancouver on Tuesday night.
Carey Price made 49 saves, and Lars Eller, David Desharnais and Brendan Gallagher added goals. The Canadiens have won every game in regulation time.
Leo Komarov, James van Riemsdyk and Morgan Reilly scored for Toronto.
BLUE JACKETS 4, AVALANCHE 3
DENVER (AP) - Ryan Murray and Brandon Dubinsky scored goals early in the third period and Columbuscame back to beat Colorado for its first win in nine games this season.
Boone Jenner had two goals, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves for the Blue Jackets. Their 0-8-0 start was the worst since the New York Rangers lost their first 11 games in 1943-44.
Coach John Tortorella got his first win with Columbus after losing at Minnesota in his first game since replacing the fired Todd Richards.
Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist for Colorado, and Nathan MacKinnon and Jack Skille also scored.
BLACKHAWKS 1, LIGHTNING 0, OT
CHICAGO (AP) - Jonathan Toews scored his first goal of the season 17 seconds into overtime to give Chicago a victory over Tampa Bay in a rematch of the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup victory.
A determined Toews netted the winner when he barreled into the Tampa Bay zone, and muscled between Anton Stralman and Valtteri Filppula to the net. Rookie goalie Kristers Gudlevskis stopped Toews' initial chance, but the Chicago captain knocked in his own rebound.
Corey Crawford made 21 saves for this first shutout this season and 13th of his career in Chicago's third straight victory. Gudlevskis made 31 saves is his second NHL start.
RED WINGS 3, CANUCKS 2, OT
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Gustav Nyquist scored in overtime and Detroit beat Vancouver to end a four-game losing streak.
The Canucks killed off a tripping penalty on Daniel Sedin earlier in the extra period to stay alive, but were beaten when Detroit goalie Petr Mrazek fed a stretch pass to Nyquist during a Vancouver change.
Nyquist moved in on Ryan Miller and buried his fourth of the season.
Tomas Tatar had a goal and an assist, Teemu Pulkkinen scored, and Mrazek stopped 30 shots.
Christopher Tanev and Brandon Sutter scored for Vancouver.
DEVILS 4, SABRES 3
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Adam Henrique scored twice and added an assist and New Jersey beat Buffalo for its fourth straight victory after an 0-3-1 start.
Mike Cammalleri had a goal and two assists, David Schlemko also scored, and Cory Schneider made 26 saves for the Devils.
Tyler Ennis, Ryan O'Reilly and Jack Eichel scored for Buffalo. Linus Ullmark made 24 saves in his NHL debut for the Sabres. Buffalo lost Evander Kane to a left knee injury midway through the third period. Kane collapsed to the ice after having his knee pinned to the boards in the right corner of the Devils zone off a check from David Schlemko.
FLYERS 3, RANGERS 2, SO
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Sam Gagner and Claude Giroux scored in a shootout to lift Philadelphia past New York.
Mark Streit and Scott Laughton scored in regulation, and Steve Mason had 37 saves for the Flyers. Mason stopped Dominic Moore to end it.
J.T. Miller and Derick Brassard scored for the Rangers. Henrik Lundqvist was sensational in regulation and overtime with 46 saves, but gave up the two goals on three shots in the shootout.
PANTHERS 6, STARS 2
DALLAS (AP) - Nick Bjugstad had a goal and an assist in Florida's victory over Dallas.
Bjugstad centered a line with Jaromir Jagr and Jonathan Huberdeau because a hand injury sidelined Aleksander Barkov. Bjugstad put the Panthers ahead to stay at 2-1 in the first period.
Jagr also had a goal and an assist, and Huberdeau assisted on Florida's first two goals. Al Montoya made 33 saves to improve to 2-0-0.
Jamie Benn scored both Dallas goals, increasing his total to an NHL-leading eight.
SHARKS 5, HURRICANES 2
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Joel Ward had a hat trick and San Jose beat Carolina to end a three-game losing streak.
Joe Pavelski and Tommy Wingels also scored for the Sharks. The game drew 15,814 fans - the Sharks' lowest attendance in nine years.
Justin Faulk and Riley Nash scored for the Hurricanes.
WILD 3, DUCKS 0
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Devan Dubnyk stopped 15 shots for his first shutout of the season and 15th of his career, leading Minnesota past reeling Anaheim.
Matt Dumba, Thomas Vanek and Ryan Carter scored to send Anaheim to its sixth loss in the first seven games. The Ducks, a Western Conference finalist last season, have scored just six goals this season while getting shut out four times.
COYOTES 4, SENATORS 1
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Mikkel Boedker scored three goals and Arizona beat Ottawa to snap a four-game losing streak.
Brad Richardson also scored, and Anders Lindback made 35 saves in his first start of the season to help Arizona improve to 4-3-1. Cody Ceci scored for Ottawa, and Craig Anderson stopped 22 shots.
PENGUINS 2, PREDATORS 1, OT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Phil Kessel scored 41 seconds into overtime to lift Pittsburgh past Nashville.
Chris Kunitz also scored, and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 37 shots to help Pittsburgh win for the fourth time in five games. James Neal scored for Nashville, and Pekka Rinne made 23 saves.
ISLANDERS 3, BLUES 2, OT
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Mikhail Grabovski scored his first goal of the season 4 minutes into overtime in New York's victory over St. Louis.
John Tavares scored his fifth of the season and extended his points streak to six games for the Islanders. Kyle Okposo also scored, and Frans Nielsen had two assists.
Rookie defenseman Colton Parayko had a goal and assist, and Alexander Steen also scored for the Blues.
