Woman plows into JCPD car despite lights, siren

The Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating an injury accident involving a police officer Sunday night.

According to police reports, the accident occurred at 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Dunklin and Madison streets.

The initial investigation report shows a vehicle driven by Shanterra Meyers, 18, of Jefferson City, was going west on Dunklin, approaching the intersection with Madison, and crashed into a police interceptor vehicle.

The report shows the officer had his emergency lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

As the officer approached the intersection, it appeared all traffic was yielding to the lights siren, the report said. As the officer proceeded through the intersection, Meyers failed to yield and crossed in front of the police vehicle's path. The officer could not stop and crashed into the passenger side of Meyer's vehicle.

Both Meyers and her passenger, Dominique Duhart, 24, of Jefferson City, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, as was the officer, who was not named in the report.
