Your Opinion: Win-win approach to LU-Parks facility

Dear Editor:

Can competition lead to win-win thinking? Perhaps.

I am referring to the cooperative project between Lincoln University and the City of Jefferson Parks Department. One entity is responsible for one floor. The other entity is responsible for the other floor. The big question is: "Which floor will be maintained better?" Will one floor be well-kept while the other is falling apart?

I would like to suggest a "healthy competition." I challenge each entity to try to out do the other. Try to make their floor the best-kept.

Competition would lead to win-win results. The building might even last longer.

While competition and win-win thinking are usually considered to be mutually exclusive concepts, they have the potential of coming together in the City of Jefferson.

There has been considerable discussion about possible lack of public access to the new facility. I have not studied the situation enough to make an educated comment. I will leave this discussion for others. I challenge some creative individual to come up with a win-win solution.
