An open house Thursday will review Lincoln University's proposal to restrict vehicle access to Chestnut Street in the heart of the Jefferson City campus and construct a pedestrian plaza.

The public session, scheduled for 4-6 p.m. in the Boone-Bancroft Conference Room at City Hall, will offer area residents a chance to discuss the request to vacate the one-way street between Dunklin and Atchison streets, and will make architectural renderings of the pedestrian plaza available for viewing. Lincoln University and city staff will be present to address questions.

An ordinance was introduced Monday night at the Jefferson City Council meeting to allow an agreement between the city and university to vacate that section. The ordinance will be back before the council in two weeks and could be voted on at that time.
