CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays opened play Thursday in the Gateway City Soccer Classic with a 3-0 victory against Granite City, Ill.
Jordan Carron, Skylar Richardson and Logan Horn scored for the Jays. Erich Sporleder and Carron picked up assists.
Zach Brooks and Tyler Hagar shared time in goal in the shutout.
Jefferson City (6-4-3) will play Marquette in the semifinals of its division at 7:30 p.m. today. Marquette advanced with a 3-1 victory Thursday against O'Hara.
