ST. ANDREWS, Scotland (AP) - Ireland's Paul Dunne had a hole-in-one and finished with an 8-under 64 in his professional debut for a share of the first-round lead in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Dunne used a 5-iron on the 205-yard 15th hole at Kingsbarns. He also had eight birdies and two bogeys.
England's Jimmy Mullen, also making his pro debut, also had a 64 at Kingsbarns, and Sweden's Kristoffer Broberg had a 64 on the Old Course at St. Andrews. Dunne and Mullen were teammates last month in Britain and Ireland's victory over the United States in the Walker Cup.
The tournament is split between three courses, with players alternating between St. Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie. The final round will be played at St. Andrews.
WEB.COM TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Rhein Gibson shot a 7-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead in the Web.com Tour Finals-ending Web.Com Tour Championship.
The 29-year-old Australian had eight birdies and a bogey on TPC Sawgrass' rain-soaked Dye's Valley Course. He hit 12 of 14 fairways.
The tournament is the fourth and final event in the series for the top 75 players from the Web.com Tour money list, Nos. 126-200 in the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup standings and non-members who earned enough money to have placed in the top 200 had they been eligible to receive points. The top 25 players on the Web.com Tour regular-season money list earned PGA Tour cards. They are competing against each other for tour priority, with regular-season earnings counting in their totals. The other players are fighting for 25 cards based on series earnings.
Gibson was 33rd on the Web.com Tour regular-season money list and entered the week 24th on the series money list with $33,942.
Lucas Glover, Sam Saunders and Mexico's Oscar Fraustro were tied for second.
U.S. SENIOR AMATEUR
EGGS HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Chip Lutz made his first trip to the final match pay off when he won the U.S. Senior Amateur, beating Tom Brandes 5 and 3.
Lutz, a 60-year-old from Reading, Pennsylvania, won the opening hole with a par and never trailed at Hidden Creek Golf Club.
Lutz made it to the semifinal round in 2010, 2011 and 2013. He advanced to the championship match with a 1-up victory over Tim Jackson, a two-time USGA champion.
Brandes, from Bellevue, Washington, also was runner-up in the British Senior Amateur two years ago.
U.S. SENIOR WOMEN'S AMATEUR
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Karen Garcia rallied to win the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur at Hillwood Country Club, taking the final two holes for a 1-up victory over Pamela Kuong.
The 53-year-old Garcia, from Cool, California, rebounded after losing Nos. 14-16 to fall a hole down. She squared the match with a par on the par-17th and won with a par on the par-4 18th.
The 54-year-old Kuong is from Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts.
In the morning semifinals, Garcia topped Sue Cohn of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, 1 up with a par win on the 18th, and Kuong beat Tama Caldabaugh of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, with a par on the 21st hole.
The tournament is for players 50 and older.
ASIA-PACIFIC AMATEUR
HONG KONG (AP) - Jin Cheng had four birdies and an eagle in a five-hole span and finished with a tournament- and course-record 8-under 62 to take a two-stroke in the Asia-Pacific Amateur.
The 17-year-old Chinese player, among the early starters after a 90-minute lightning and rain delay at Clearwater Bay, birdied the 17th and eagled the 18th after starting on the 10th hole. He birdied the first three holes on the front nine and added birdies on No. 5 and 7.
Singapore's Gregory Foo opened with a 64, and New Zealand's Nick Voke also was 6 under with one left in the suspended round. The tournament champion will get a spot next year in the Masters.
