John Burroughs beats Odessa 30-6 for Class 3 championship

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Jake Bain rushed for 255 yards and three touchdowns to lead John Burroughs to a 30-6 win over Odessa in the Class 3 state championship game on Saturday.

John Burroughs (14-1), located in the St. Louis suburb of Ladue, captured its seventh outright title. It has shared two others.

Odessa (13-2) had a six-game winning streak snapped.

John Burroughs had lost in the title game in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Burroughs coach John Merritt says that "made this so much sweater."

Bain scored on a 54-yard run in the closing minutes of the first half to put his team in control 20-0.
