Jefferson City residents will have extra reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving Day.

Four area organizations are serving hot meals Thursday to the public for free, thanks to volunteers. Meals will be offered at the following locations:

• Immaculate Conception Church, 1206 E. McCarty St., will welcome area residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside Kertz Hall. Dine-in and delivery options are available, and reservations can be made by calling the parish office at 635-6143. Delivery is only available to addresses within a 10-mile radius of the church. Anyone wishing to donate to the meal is asked to call the office.

• First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, 301 E. Capitol Ave., will serve its meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside Fellowship Hall. Reservations for delivery and dine-in are available through Thanksgiving Day.

• The Salvation Army in Jefferson City, 927 Jefferson St., is opening its doors from 5-6 p.m. and serving a meal provided by Huber and Associates and Bandana's Barbecue. The Salvation Army asks that delivery requests be made before Thanksgiving Day. Call 635-1975 for more information.

• New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 323 Redwood Drive in New Bloomfield, is hosting its meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the lower level of the building.
