TJMS students in trouble for assaults

Two seventh-grade students are facing discipline after two assaults Wednesday at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Jefferson City Public School District reports show the assaults occurred just before 10 a.m.

In one case, a seventh-grade male bit three other students, one female and two males.

In the other case, a seventh-grade female slapped another female.

District officials said in situations like these, for an assault, a student is given 10 days out-of-school suspension pending a hearing with the assistant superintendent for secondary instruction. After that hearing, the suspension could go longer than 10 days.
