New interim head of graduate studies named at MU

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri has named a new interim vice chancellor for graduate studies.

Interim Chancellor Hank Foley on Wednesday named Mark McIntosh as interim vice chancellor for research, graduate studies and economic development.

The university says McIntosh was professor and chairman of the Department of Molecular Biology and Immunology and associate vice chancellor for research and strategic initiatives.

McIntosh's new job includes roles Foley held before his appointment as interim chancellor to replace former Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin. Loftin announced his resignation last week along with University of Missouri System President Tim Wolfe amid student protests over concerns about how the university handled racial issues.

Foley says McIntosh will work to repair administration relations with graduate students.
