Women's Soccer: Cougars move to title game

COLUMBIA - The Columbia College Cougars advanced to the championship game of the American Midwest Conference Tournament by blasting Lindenwood-Belleville 6-0 in Monday night's semifinal round.

Columbia, the top seed, improved to 17-3 and will host No. 2 seed Park on Thurday for the championship.

On Tuesday, the Cougars' first goal came just seven minutes in from Tiffany Weaver (Helias High School) when she buried a shot into the lower left corner from 18 yards out.

Jordan Poire (Helias High School) had an assist on the Cougars second goal, which came 16 minutes later.

Weaver then scored again in the 34th minute, her 15th goal of the season.

Weaver then added assists on the Cougars' fourth and fifth goals, which came within a minute of each other.

Columbia, which led 5-0 at the half, got its final goal in the 51st minute.
