Cross Country: Jays at sectional

CAMDENTON, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays and Lady Jays both qualified as teams for the Class 4 state cross country championships by virtue of their finishes in Saturday's sectional meet.

The state championships will be held next Saturday at the Oak Hills Golf Center.

Saxon Teubner (16.05.49) and Jackson Schwartz (16:06.83) finished third and fourth for the Jays, respectively. Other Jefferson City finishers included Landon Dunlap (27th), Cole Biesemeyer (34th), Thomas Nield (38th), Courtney Fitch (50th) and Josh Sabala (53rd).

The Jays finished with 91 team points to take fourth Saturday.

On the girls side, the Lady Jays were fourth with 105 points.

Mackenzie Gourley was 14th (19:45.80) and Caitlin Ruth was 15th (19:46.36) to lead Jefferson City. Other finishers were Lindsey Biesemeyer (27th), Ryen Esterline (30th), Brianne Bechtel (37th), Syleste Martinez (43rd) and Kayelee Payton (49th).
