Williams, Yoakum and Collier named to D2 Select Team

Lincoln women's basketball players Kelsey Williams and Hunter Yoakum have been chosen to the USA Sports Events D2 Select team, which will play in a series of games this summer in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

In addition, Lincoln head coach Nicole Collier was selected to be the team's assistant coach for games scheduled Aug 3-12.

Williams was Lincoln's top scorer (12.3) and second-best rebounder (5.1) this past season and led LU with 3.5 assists per night.

One of the MIAA's best all-around players, Williams ended the regular season 19th in scoring, sixth in assists and 15th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4) while recording 29 steals and five blocks.

Yoakum was one of the league's top three-point shooters, finishing the regular season fifth in the MIAA in treys made per game (2.1) and seventh in long-distance accuracy (.382).

Yoakum, who was also the league's 18th-best scorer, came off the bench this season to finish second among the Blue Tigers with 12.1 points per game.

Collier finished her third season as the head coach at Lincoln by leading the Blue Tigers to their third postseason appearance in the past four years.

The USA Sports Events D2 Select team has a large MIAA presence, with Missouri Southern's Ronda Hubbard the team's head coach.

In addition to Williams and Yoakum, other MIAA players invited to the team include Sharese Jones, Tami Morice and Camila Lacerda of Missouri Southern; Cathy Brugman and Kylie Gafford of Pittsburg State; Kathryn Flott of Emporia State; and Dilonna Johnson of Southwest Baptist.
