ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis residents won't be voting this summer on using tax dollars to build a new $985-million riverfront football stadium.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1AueYnG) reports the deadline to get a measure on the August ballot was Tuesday. And although there's nothing scheduled on the November ballot, the city's governing board could request a special election.
The public board that runs the Edward Jones Dome - the Rams' current home - is suing in state court, arguing a 2002 city ordinance requiring a public vote prior to using tax dollars on a new stadium is "overly broad, vague and ambiguous."
That lawsuit asks a judge to rule the ordinance doesn't apply, conflicts with Missouri statutes or is unconstitutional.
A hearing on that was to be Thursday but is being rescheduled.
