Man charged with burglary, suspected of more

A Jefferson City man has been charged with burglary and is suspected in a number of burglaries being investigated by local authorities.

Richard Ferguson, 29, of 1901 W. Main St., is charged with one count of second-degree burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states officers allege Ferguson broke into as many as three buildings in the 500 block of East Capitol Avenue in March.

A witness reported seeing Ferguson come from the area near two vacant residences, both to have forced entry. A pry bar was found in the bed of a truck Ferguson was in and had an edge consistent with pry marks found on one of the residences. The edge also contained paint transfer similar to paint found on the door frame.

When Ferguson was taken into custody, he had jewelry similar to that found inside one of the residences.

Ferguson has recent arrests for narcotics violations, police said.
