JCPD investigating pedestrian accident

Jefferson City police are investigating an accident Tuesday evening involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Police reports show the accident occurred at East State Street and Monroe Street around 5:19 p.m.

A vehicle driven by Jeffery Platz, 48, Jefferson City, was going west on East State Street when he struck Cheryl Dupuis, 68, Westphalia, who was crossing the street going north.

There is not a marked cross walk at this intersection.

Dupuis did not cross from the corner near the sidewalk and was struck while in the middle of the intersection.

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Platz had no reported injuries and was wearing a seat belt.
