CAPE GIRARDEAU - Gannon Withers of New Bloomfield and Tristan Bolin of Tipton advanced to the Class 1 state tournament with their finishes Monday in the sectional tournament.
Withers finished in a tie for sixth with an 87 at the par-72 Dalhousie Golf Club, while Bolin tied for 13th with a 92.
The two will play next Monday and Tuesday in the state tournament at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.
Advance (336) and Gainesville (375) claimed the top two team spots and berths in the state tournament.
Tipton finished fifth with a 439. Brock Bookout (111), Jonhathan Petree (115), Daniel Buschjost (122) and Reagan Ranney (126) rounded out the finishers for the Cardinals.
New Bloomfield had two other players at the sectionals. Tyler Grace and Ridge Martin tied for 25th after carding 100s.
Coy Bond of Russellville finished 22nd with a 96, while teammate Austin Garrison tied for 36th with a 111.
