College Softball: Blue Tigers earn honors

Four members of the Lincoln University softball team were recently named to the All-Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association team.

Senior shortstop Sam Kircher, senior outfielder Allyson Corry, junior second baseman Jessica Wolken and sophomore outfielder Megan Heimbaugh were all named to the honorable-mention list.

Kircher earned her third-straight All-MIAA honorable mention award after leading the Blue Tigers in nearly every offensive category. She finished seventh in the league in on-base percentage (.446) and 14th in batting average (.353), tallying 47 hits that included six home runs. Kircher started all 52 games and scored 22 runs while batting in 21 more. Kircher also hit eight doubles, went 6-for-6 in steal attempts and posted a slugging percentage of .549.

Corry finished the season with 32 hits and 10 RBI, tying for third on the team in the latter. She also scored 14 runs and hit three doubles.

Wolken started all 52 games at second base and finished second among the Blue Tigers in both batting average (.252) and on-base percentage (.369) after being walked a team-high 14 times. She ended up with 26 hits and five RBI.

Heimbaugh completed her first season with Lincoln with 35 hits, the second-most on the squad. She was also second on the team in doubles (seven) and home runs (three) and posted a slugging percentage of .327. She tallied 10 RBI.
