The circus is coming to town

Drawn from three generations of the performing Page family, Circus Pages creates a mesmerizing show for all ages.

Shows are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday in Jefferson City at the Washington Park Ice Arena, 711 Kansas St.

Adult tickets are $15. Two children, ages 14 and under, are free with a paid adult admission, with merchant coupons found at area stores and restaurants. The ticket booths accept cash only.

The circus originated in the 1960s in Cuba with trapeze artists; today's performances have expanded to include animal trainers, daredevils, aerialists, acrobats and clowns.

Saturday's show is likely to feature elephants, rare white tigers and white lions, camels, acrobatic dogs, ponies and horses. The Earhart's "Globe of Death," which features spinning motorcyclists circling in a metal sphere, are also a common feature.

Circus Pages has appeared throughout the United States and in Canada in conjunction with numerous community sponsors, civic organizations, schools and non-profit organizations.

The show lasts 1 1/2 hours. Doors open one hour before the performance.
