Neighbors rattled after 2 bodies found in St. Joseph home

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) -- St. Joseph police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a home after neighbors got curious about why the couple's van hadn't moved in a while.

The St. Joseph News-Press (http://bit.ly/1cjmDtW) reports officers were called to the home around 3:45 p.m. Monday for a welfare check and found what is believed to be the bodies of two elderly residents.

A police spokesman said in a news release on Tuesday that a period of time had elapsed since the two died.

The cause of death was not immediately known. Both bodies were transported for an autopsy.

Investigators dressed in protective gear, including oxygen tanks and clean-air apparatuses, returned to the house on Tuesday.
