Lincoln softball swept in doubleheader

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers managed just four hits Saturday in dropping a doubleheader to the Missouri Western Griffons.

Missouri Western, which ran its winning streak to 16 straight games, took the opener 8-0 before winning the nightcap 9-0. Both games were shortened by the run rule.

Megan Heimbaugh, Sam Kircher and Macie Kinsey had singles for Lincoln in the first game. Madison Ragar took the loss, allowing six earned runs on 12 hits.

In the second game, Avery Myers' single in the fifth inning was Lincoln's lone hit.

Madison Stamp was the starter for Lincoln, working one inning. She allowed four runs on five hits. Ragar pitched the next two innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Spencer Silva pitched a perfect fourth inning for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln (3-27 overall, 2-14 Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association) is back in action Friday when it hosts Missouri Southern in a doubleheader. Missouri Western is now 25-9, 10-2.
