Your Opinion: Questions about president's travel expenses

Dear Editor:

When Mr. and Mrs. Obama travel across the country to raise money for Democratic candidates, why should taxpayers foot the bill for travel expenses? It seems to me that the expenses should be taken out of the gross proceeds from the fundraising.

At $33,000 per plate, the party has the ability to pay for their guest speaker and they should foot the bill for the president's travel expenses, not me.

I understand that he and his wife's recent West coast publicity stunt cost me and my coworkers over $1 million. Why are we not reimbursed?

This is one of many things that needs changing in our expensive government and the president should be setting an example for controlling expenses.
