Saturday's MLS Capsules

Games played on March 21, 2015

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Tesho Akindele and Ryan Hollingshead scored in the second half, and FC Dallas beat 10-man Philadelphia 2-0 on Saturday.

FC Dallas (3-0-0) is the only Major League Soccer team with maximum points after its first three matches.

Akindele, the 2014 MLS Rookie of the Year, forced a defensive turnover in the 49th minute, gathered his deflection, and slid in a breakaway goal. Hollingshead added his first MLS score in the 59th.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday, but it was postponed due to poor weather conditions.

Philadelphia (0-1-2) has just one win in its last 10 regular-season games.

WHITECAPS 1, ORLANDO CITY 0

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Raul Octavio Rivero scored on a header in the 96th minute, lifting Vancouver to the win.

Pedro Morales sent a free kick toward the goal and Rivero redirected it past Orlando City goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.

Rivero, in his first MLS season, scored his third goal in as many games - including two late winners.

Vancouver (2-1-0) was penalized for time wasting in the 95th minute and it appeared the match was over. Darwin Ceren's careless challenge 40 yards out on the left flank set up the key free kick.

Orlando City (1-1-1) dominated possession (62.7 percent), but Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted made only one save in his 19th career MLS shutout.

SPORTING KC 0, TIMBERS 0

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Sporting KC goalkeeper Luis Marin earned his first shutout of the season with three saves.

Marin's most notable stop came at the end of the 60th minute on a reflexive block of Fanendo Adi's left-footed strike from 10 yards out.

Portland goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey recorded two saves to give the Timbers (0-0-3) their third point of the season. Kwarasey earned his second shutout in three games - the first came in his MLS debut on March 7 against Real Salt Lake.

Ike Opara nearly scored on a couple of headers for Sporting (0-1-2). The first was just wide in the ninth minute and the second went over the crossbar in the 77th.

NEW YORK CITY FC 0, COLORADO 0

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Josh Saunders had seven saves in his second consecutive shutout and 10-man New York City FC tied Colorado in the home opener for the Rapids.

Saunders guarded the near post in the 8th minute to knock away a Gabriel Torres attempt from the corner of the 6-yard box. Saunders held his ground in the 63rd minute and punched another Torres shot over the crossbar.

Shay Facey received yellow cards in the 51st and 82nd minutes for NYC FC (1-0-2) - the second for colliding with Colorado's Juan Ramirez just outside the penalty area.

NYC FC's best scoring chance came in the 53rd minute, but Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin pushed away David Villa's shot.

Colorado (0-0-2) has not won a match since its 3-0 victory over Chivas USA on July 25, 2014.

IMPACT 0, REVOLUTION 0

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Evan Bush recorded his first shutout of the season and 10-man Montreal tied New England in the Revolution's home opener.

New England (0-2-1) has started consecutive seasons with three straight scoreless games - both with a 5-0 goal differential. Montreal (0-1-1) is goalless after its first two games, including a 1-0 loss at D.C. United.

Impact forward Cameron Porter came down awkwardly on his left leg in the 18th and was carried off on a stretcher.

Hassoun Camara was handed his second yellow card in the 61st minute after pulling down Juan Agudelo.

New England's Chris Tierney sent in a bending cross in the 72nd minute, but an open Lee Nguyen sailed a close-range header over the crossbar.

GALAXY 1, DYNAMO 1

CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Robbie Keane and Nathan Sturgis traded early goals, and the Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo settled for a draw.

Keane opened the scoring in the third minute, beating Sturgis with a cut near the top of the box and finishing despite goalkeeper Tyler Deric's deflection.

Sturgis answered in the 11th minute for the Dynamo (1-1-1). David Horst headed Oscar Garcia's corner kick back into the middle of the 6-yard box and Sturgis ran underneath it for an easy finish.

The Galaxy (1-0-2) snapped a four-game regular-season losing streak to the Dynamo. Houston returned to the Western Conference this season after a four-year absence.

Deric preserved the draw with all three of his saves in the final 25 minutes, highlighted by a diving block in the 71st.

Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark left the game late in the first half with a chest injury.
