Missouri football to host Idaho in 2017

The Missouri football team will host Idaho in 2017, the university announced Friday.

The teams will play at Faurot Field on Oct. 21, 2017, the Tigers' final non-conference game of the season.

As with Missouri's matchup against BYU scheduled for 2016, the game will take place after the conference schedule has already begun, a practice more common in the Southeastern Conference than in the Big 12, Missouri's previous conference.

The Vandals went 1-10 last season, when they were banned from postseason play for failing to meet NCAA Academic Progress Rate standards. The ban has since been lifted. Idaho won one game each of its last three seasons and two the season before that. The Vandals have had one winning season since 1999.

Missouri and Idaho played in 1958 and 1963, with the Tigers winning both.

Missouri also announced recently it will host Missouri State on Sept. 2, 2017. The Bears are coached by former Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Steckel, who spent 14 years at Missouri before being hired by Missouri State in December.

The Bears are coming off a 4-8 campaign and have not had a winning season since 2009. Missouri and Missouri State have not played since 1923, a game Missouri won.
