Cricket Wireless plans to open a Jefferson City store in early April at 1412 Missouri Blvd. in Jefferson Plaza.
The wireless phone, text and data service provider, a subsidiary of AT&T, specializes in offering prepaid, non-contract mobile phone plans for most types of cell phones, including major smartphone brands like the Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy.
Cricket Wireless also offers a bring-your-own-device option that allows customers to create new plans on the Cricket Wireless network using phones they already own, in most cases.
"You're not locked into a contract. You're getting great rate plans at affordable prices," said Cricket Wireless spokesperson Tiffany Lim. "You can get nationwide service at half the price of contracted plans."
As of now, the closest Cricket Wireless location is in Wentzville, but two more are set to open in Columbia soon.
