Missouri PSC member Kenney arrested for DWI

Missouri Public Service Commissioner Bill Kenney was arrested Thursday night for driving while intoxicated.

No details of the arrest were released, in response to open records requests made by the News Tribune and by KMIZ-TV.

The Cole County Sheriff's office said Kenney, 60, was released after posting "a preset bond."

The charge had not been posted Friday night on Case.net, the state courts' online docketing information system.

But Case.net won't show a record until after the court staff has processed a charge filed by the prosecutor's office.

A DWI arrest still is considered a charge, even if it hasn't been processed to the courts.

Gov. Jay Nixon named Kenney two years ago to a six-year PSC term - at the time, Kenney was Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder's chief of staff.

Kenney was a Kansas City Chiefs quarterback for 10 years (1979-88), then became a real estate developer in the Kansas City area.

He served in the Missouri Senate from 1995-2003, representing eastern Jackson County.
