Helias boys roll to win in district semifinals

KAISER, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders blew open a close game with a big third quarter and captured an 83-63 win against Marshfield in the semifinals of the Class 4 District 10 Tournament on Thursday night.

With the victory, second-seeded Helias (20-6) advances to the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against top-seeded Rolla (24-2) in a battle of state-ranked teams. The Bulldogs, ranked second in the state, beat the fourth-ranked Crusaders 60-46 in a regular-season meeting Jan. 16 at Rolla.

On Thursday, Helias led third-seeded Marshfield 20-16 after one quarter and 38-32 at halftime.

The Crusaders then had a 24-8 scoring edge in the third quarter to push the lead to 62-40 heading to the final period.

Isiah Sykes pumped in a game-high 27 points to lead the Crusaders to the win.

Trevor Koelling racked up 12 points, eight rebounds and five blocks for Helias. Adam Bax chipped in with 12 points and Sam Husting had nine points and six assists.

Lucas Cuff paced Marshfield with 20 points.
