Bands rev up for area engine show

RUSSELLVILLE - Five bands will highlight the two-day Russellville Engine Show and Festival Friday and Saturday at the City Park.

KC Country will kick off things at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Helen Russell will perform at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Osage Drifters at 1 p.m.

The hometown band Blackwater will open at 5 p.m. for Pure Drive, which closes out the night at 7 p.m.

"A venture back in time" opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Friday at the park gazebo will begin with a flag retirement observances followed by the baby show, Little Mr. and Miss pageant and the naming of Miss Teen Russellville.

A parade at 9:30 a.m. Saturday downtown will feature antique cars and trucks, floats, emergency responders, youth clubs, veterans and special guests.

At City Park, craft vendors and the silent auction fundraiser will be open 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Inflatable games and obstacles will be available 10 a.m.-4 p.m. And food vendors will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Nearby at the Morrow Funeral Home parking lot, the annual car cruise will be on display from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Russellville FFA Chapter will host its Super Farmer event from 1-3 p.m. at the middle school field.

The traditional Chainsaw and Cross Cut Competition will begin at 2 p.m., and the Pedal Tractor Pull at 2:30 p.m.

In conjunction with the town festival, a girls fast-pitch softball tournament will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday and continue at 9 a.m. Saturday at the middle school field.

The Russellville High School Beta Club will host a 5K Color Run beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the high school parking lot.

And the 12th Annual Eugene FFA Truck and Tractor Pull will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at the Lions Club arena.
