Public meeting-open house set on Jefferson-Stadium project

In response to traffic backing up onto U.S. 54 from the off-ramp at Jefferson Street and congestion on Stadium Boulevard, Jefferson City officials are hosting an open house/design public hearing to gather public comments on the preliminary design plans for a traffic improvement project in that area.

The hearing will be from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Boone/Bancroft Conference Room at City Hall.

During the hearing, the public may review exhibits that show the project area and preliminary design plans for improving the intersection of the U.S. 54 off ramp with Jefferson Street and the intersection of Stadium Boulevard with Jefferson. An additional lane on Jefferson from the off ramp to Stadium and a roundabout at the intersection of Stadium with Jefferson are proposed.

The hearing will be held in an open-house format, allowing interested people to come and go at any time. Comment forms and the ability to submit verbal comments for the official project record will be available at the hearing. No formal presentations will be given. Representatives from the city and project team will be present to answer questions and discuss issues or concerns.

It is anticipated the plans could be finalized by late winter and that construction of the project could begin in late spring 2016.
