WASHINGTON - The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors opened Zone Tournament play Thursday night with a 4-0 victory against Warrenton Post 122.
The game was scoreless before Post 5 took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning,
Post 5 then added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to advance to the semifinals of the double-elimination event.
Post 5 is off until Saturday when it will take on the winner of today's game between Moberly Post 6 and Washington Post 218. Moberly defeated St. Charles Post 312 6-1 in the first game Thursday, while Washington had a bye.
Warrenton and St. Charles will play in an elimination game today.
