Franks tied for 11th in Stroke Play

ST. JOSEPH - Kory Franks sits in a tie for 11th after one day of the Missouri Stroke Play Championship at the St. Joseph Country Club.

Franks, a recent graduate of Blair Oaks High School who will play at Missouri State University starting in the fall, is tied with seven other players after carding a 1-over 72.

Joe Migdal of Ballwin leads the two-day event after carding an opening round 66 to sit at 5 under. Brad Nurski of St. Joseph and Travis Mays of Overland Park, Kan., are one stroke back after shooting 67s.

Franks parred the first eight holes of his round before bogeying the ninth and 10th holes to sit at 2 over. He got one shot back with a birdie on the 15th. After a par at 16, he bogeyed 17 and birdied 18 to get into the clubhouse at 1 over.
