Your Opinion: Support proposal to end public corruption

Dear Editor:

Dear middle class Missouri. I have an idea for a new bill. This bill would state that any person in political office yearly salary must not exceed the average income of the people that they are representing.

All income, including yearly salary, donations, gifts and "lobby support" of all kinds must be cited publicly as well with any benefit from from dental to vacation and so on. If at anytime a elected official exceeds the average income of the people they represent they are immediately held in suspension until a thorough investigation is publicly held.

All income in this time period will be frozen until after conclusion of the investigation. If there is any unlawful income or benefit proven to be had, the elected official will be terminated of their position and all remaining salary will not be received. Any salary received in the time of offensive collecting shall be repaid by the guilty party plus fines and possible jail/prison time depending the level of offensive income collected.

I feel this is the only way that we the people can retrieve control over our elected officials again and start to get good honest politicians back in office that won't become corrupt. There are way too many incentives that come with politics these days and way too many ways to be bought and corrupted. Let's take way those opportunities and give back some opportunities to us the lower and middle class, the hard workers, the backbone, the ones that can't afford to spend time with our families, if that time is even available.

We need to stand up and end this corruption and take our country back. Fight with me. Fight together not against each other over petty distractions and disagreements. I think we all can agree that we are not getting our fair share of the hypothetical apple pie. We are being robbed. Let's become the Robin Hoods, so to speak, that our children need.
