JC men killed in wake of Chicago gunfire

Two Jefferson City men were killed Sunday in Chicago after they crashed into a building when someone opened fire on them.

Reports from the Chicago Tribune identified the two as Willie Hunter, 31, and John L. Hunter, 25.

Authorities said the two were sitting in an SUV in a neighborhood on the city's south side when someone walked up and opened fire.

They tried driving away and crashed into an organization that helps veterans.

Authorities were not sure if Willie Hunter died from being shot or from injuries he suffered in the crash. John Hunter was identified as the driver.

There was no indication as to why the shooting took place.

Authorities planned to do autopsies Monday on the two men.
