Two seriously injured after head-on crash in Miller County

Two people were seriously injured Friday after a head-on crash in Miller County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Ruth A. Flippin, 29, of Columbia, was travelling northbound on Missouri 87, south of Boulder Road, at 2:35 p.m. Friday when she crossed the center of the road and struck another vehicle head-on. The other vehicle was driven by Ralph M. Zigler, 40, of Olean. Both cars were totalled in the accident.

Flippin was transported to University Hospital by Staff for Life with serious injuries. As of Saturday afternoon, she was listed as being in fair condition

Zigler was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with serious injuries. As of Saturday afternoon, he had been treated and released.

Both Flippin and Zigler were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

• Two people received minor and moderate injuries Friday night after a two-vehicle accident in Callaway County.

According to the Highway Patrol, Brandon C. Peiter, 21, of Holts Summit, was travelling southbound on Lost Canyon Drive, just north of Coast to Coast Drive, at 8:10 p.m. Friday when he struck the rear of a vehicle stopped in the road, being driven by Kenneth M. Peiter, 22, of Holts Summit. Brandon's passenger, Chelsea N. Wiler, 21, of New Bloomfield, was ejected during the accident.

Brandon received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, while Wiler received moderate injuries and was transported to University Hospital. Wiler was not wearing a seat belt and, according to the Patrol, Brandon was "exempt" from a safety device.

• A Fulton man received minor injuries Friday after overturning in Callaway County.

According to the Highway Patrol, Robert H. Lillybridge, 70, was travelling eastbound on Missouri 94, just east of County Road 479, at 5:50 p.m. Friday when he failed to negotiate a curve, driving off the left side of the road. The vehicle then overturned and Lillybridge was ejected from the car.

Lillybridge, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Callaway Community Hospital with minor injuries.
