CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - The new president at Southeast Missouri State University is officially at the helm.
Wednesday was the first day in office for Dr. Carlos Vargas-Aburto, who was named to the job in March. He replaces longtime president Kenneth W. Dobbins, who announced his retirement last year, effective June 30.
Vargas had been acting president at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania for about a year. He previously was provost and vice president for academic and student affairs, and before that was chief academic officer.
