California rips Warsaw to open Russellville tourney

RUSSELLVILLE - Top-seeded California pounded eighth-seeded Warsaw 82-26 on Monday in the opening round of the Russellville Tournament.

The Lady Pintos raced out to a 30-7 lead after one quarter and stretched the advantage to 56-22 at halftime. California outscored Warsaw 13-1 in the third quarter and 13-3 in the fourth to end it.

Cameron Meyer led the Lady Pintos with 19 points, while Kamryn Koetting had 16 and Elizabeth Lutz added 13.

Mackenzie Bauer had 10 points and was the only Warsaw player to reach double figures.

California (8-8) will play Versailles at 6 p.m. Friday in the winner's bracket semifinals.
