It was an honor befitting an undefeated state champion.
On Friday, the Helias Lady Crusaders volleyball team was presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy as part of the MaxPreps Girls Volleyball Tour of Champions during an afternoon assembly at Rackers Fieldhouse.
"These girls, for all that they accomplished this year, I think they deserve every honor and accolade that they get," Helias coach David Harris said.
Helias finished 43-0-1 this season on its way to winning the Class 3 state title.
Helias was one of 10 schools to be visited on the Tour of Champions. The Lady Crusaders were recently selected as Max Preps' medium-sized school national team of the year.
"For the past decade, MaxPreps, in partnership with the Army National Guard, has honored the top high school sports teams in the nation. Helias Catholic High School is one of a very select and elite group of volleyball teams to be honored this season," Andy Beal, president and founder of MaxPreps, said in a release. "We congratulate the coach, players and the Helias Catholic High School community for earning the Army National Guard national ranking trophy."
MaxPreps ranked Helias as the No. 51 overall team in the country.
"This is an exclamation point on our season," Harris said. "It was an amazing season."
