Lincoln track posts several top-eight results at Invitational

COLUMBIA - The Lincoln indoor track and field teams placed in the top eight in 15 events Friday during the Missouri Invitational.

Lincoln won two events on the women's side. Nickiesha Beaumont won the long jump (18-8) and the Blue Tigers took first in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:57.89 with the team of Jhevere Hall, Lovan Palmer, Willomena Williams and Ladonna Richards.

In addition for the Blue Tigers, Williams was second in the 400-meter dash (57.66), Hall was third in the 800-meter run (2:19.84), Nadia Harriott was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.04) and Palmer was sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.06).

On the men's side, Lincoln's best results were a pair of second-place finishes. Owen Smith was second in the triple jump (46-103/4), while the Blue Tigers were second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:26.93) with the team of Roger Blake, Winston Edwards, Darran Hunter and Orneldo Thomas.

In addition for Lincoln, Blake was third in the 200-meter dash (22.66), Hunter was third in the high jump (6-31/2) and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.53), Thomas was fourth in the long jump (23-51/2), Stallone Watson was second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.21) and seventh in the long jump (22-93/4), and Nicholus Grant was seventh in the 400-meter dash (51.98).

Competing for Computomarx TC, Dan Raithel, a former Blair Oaks Falcon and Central Missouri Mule, won the weight throw with a heave of 66-5.

Competing unattached, Missouri freshman Will Fife (Helias High School) was fourth in the shot put (47-9).
