Tonight, the women's team will try to do what the men's team couldn't.

Two days after the Missouri men's basketball team was blown out 86-37 by No. 1 Kentucky, the Missouri women's basketball team will host No. 1 South Carolina at Mizzou Arena (8 p.m., SEC Network-TV).

Missouri (11-6) is coming off a 66-47 home win against Florida that snapped a four-game losing streak by the Tigers. Missouri followed its loss to Missouri State by dropping three straight games against ranked opponents to start Southeastern Conference play.

The Gamecocks, on the other hand, have yet to lose a game this season, beginning the year 16-0 with wins against ranked opponents Syracuse, Duke and Kentucky.

The game is Missouri's first against a top-ranked opponent since Feb. 1, 2012, when Baylor defeated Missouri 71-41 in Columbia. The Tigers faced South Carolina in a 78-62 loss last year in Columbia, S.C. The Tigers won their last home game against the Gamecocks, a 65-58 defeat of No. 14 South Carolina on Feb. 28, 2013.

Tiffany Mitchell leads the Gamecocks with 14.8 points per game, and A'ja Wilson and Alaina Coates are contributing 13.9 and 11.1 points each, respectively. Coates pulls down a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per game.

Missouri is led by Jordan Frericks' 13.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Morgan Eye is averaging 10.3 points.

The Tigers are shooting 40.5 percent from the field compared to South Carolina's 48.9 percent. The Gamecocks average 80.1 points a game, and the Tigers average 65.1.
