Your Opinion: Where is the outrage over abortion data?

Dear Editor:

I'm writing to express my shock at a story, the subject of which, seems to escape the attention of the mainstream press. I reference information from an article by Brandon Darby dated Jan. 2 "Planned Parenthood Performed Nearly One Million Abortions in Three Years." ( http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/01/02/planned-parenthood-performed-nearly-one-million-abortions-in-three-years/ ). The number is actually 988,783 according to the organization's own fiscal year (FY) reports.

As shocking as the number of abortions is, is the fact that "taxpayer funding accounts for 41 percent of Planned Parenthood's overall revenue!" This amounts to " more than $528 million in taxpayer funding, or more than $1.4 million per day in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements."

I refer you to a recent article dated March 6, 2014 "CNN Poll: Wide divide over abortion."( http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2014/03/06/cnn-poll-wide-divide-over-abortion/ ). A quote from the article: "Most Americans have never favored using public funds for abortions for women who cannot afford them. According to the survey, 56 percent remain opposed, with only 39 percent favoring public funding for abortions."

I refer to an article by Frank Newport dated Dec. 12, 2012: "In U.S., 77 percent Identify as Christian" ( http://www.gallup.com/poll/159548/identify-christian.aspx ). My question is who are the 21 percent (77 percent who are Christian minus 56 percent who oppose abortion) who claim to be Christian but believe the government should pay for abortions?

They obviously must be hypocrites or of course there could be a problem with how the poll was developed. Whatever the problem is, the numbers indicate there is no plurality of folks indicating that we as a country approve of government funding of abortion! So why do we allow it? For the same reason we allow the government to ruin our medical system, ignore our laws, etc.; apathy.

Where is the justification for the national outcry about one person having been proven to be justifiably killed for disobeying the law versus the silence regarding our government's complicity in the killing of over 400,000 babies (41percent X 988783)? If we don't stop the irresponsible, immoral, and/or self absorbed in this country from controlling our government's direction there can be no hope for the future of our nation.
