Missouri Senate opening disrupted by protests

The Missouri Senate was forced to stand at-ease this afternoon as a number of demonstrators chanted loudly and disrupted the opening day ceremonies.

The chants included cries of "No Justice, No Peace," "Black Lives Matter," All Lives Matter," "Police State" and "This Is What Democracy Looks Like."

The demonstrators had drums in the hallways.

Several of the demonstrators also held banners carrying similar messages.

The chamber's upper galleries were cleared of all people, with family members of the incoming lawmakers moved to the main floor.
