NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Andraya Carter scored a career-high 19 points and No. 7 Tennessee used a solid defensive effort to beat Vanderbilt 57-49 on Monday night.

Ariel Massengale scored 12 points while Jordan Reynolds added 11 and Cierra Burdick 10 points for the Lady Vols (12-2, 2-0 SEC), who have won eight straight.

Vanderbilt (8-6, 0-2) has lost four of its last five. The Commodores narrowed the gap to 47-43 late before Tennessee's Nia Moore hit a 3-pointer with 1:11 left to seal the win.

The lowest point total for Vanderbilt coach Melanie Balcomb in 13 seasons with the Commodores is 39 against Louisiana State on Feb. 18, 2010.

Tennessee outrebounded Vanderbilt 39-27, including a 17-12 edge on the offensive glass. The Lady Vols outscored the Commodores 12-4 in second-chance points and held an edge in the paint.

No. 11 OREGON STATE 76, USC 66

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Sydney Wiese scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half to lead Oregon State to a win over Southern California.

Wiese got the Beavers out of the gate, scoring a layup 14 seconds into the game and following it with a 3-pointer, all in the first minute of play. She knocked down three 3s as Oregon State took a 38-33 lead. The Beavers (12-1, 2-0 Pac-12) outscored USC 38-33 again in the second half

Ruth Hamblin had 16 points and Jamie Weisner 15 as the Beavers shot 49.2 percent from the field (29 of 59).

Alexyz Vaioletama finished with 24 points to lead USC (9-5, 1-2).

The Beaver completed a sweep of Southern California after Saturday's 65-47 win over UCLA.

Oregon State returns to Corvallis for its first home game since December 6, when the Beavers take on rival Oregon Friday.

No. 15 STANFORD 55, UTAH 44

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Amber Orrange had 17 points and seven rebounds, leading Stanford past Utah to sweep the opening two games of conference play.

Lili Thompson scored 14 points and freshman Kaylee Johnson added seven points, seven rebounds and four blocks for the Cardinal (10-4, 2-0 Pac-12), who are chasing their 15th consecutive conference regular-season title under 29th-year Hall of Fame coach Tara VanDerveer.

Karlie Samuelson scored four straight points midway through the second half as Stanford, which led 20-14 at halftime, built its lead to 34-23.

Taryn Wicijowski scored 12 points of her 14 points in the second half to go with nine rebounds for the scrappy Utes (6-7, 0-2), who managed only six field goals in the opening 20 minutes but hung tough. Utah was swept on its Bay Area trip to open conference play, losing at California on Saturday.

No. 18 ARIZONA STATE 78, WASHINGTON STATE 64

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Katie Hempen hit four 3-pointers and all seven of her free throws for a career-high 21 points, leading Arizona State to its ninth-straight win as the Sun Devils beat Washington State.

Kelsey Moos and Sophie Brunner each added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Sun Devils (13-1, 2-0 Pac-12) and Elisha Davis had 13.

Washington State (10-3, 1-1), which had a six-game winning streak snapped, was led by Lia Galdeira with 19 points and Tia Presley with 15.

Moos, who hit 7 of 9 shots, and Hempen had 10 each at halftime as the Sun Devils shot 61 percent to lead 43-29 at the half. ASU finished at 53 percent and was 15 of 17 from the foul line.

ASU, off to its best start since going 15-1 in 1982-83, ended an opponent's winning streak of at least six games for the fourth time in five games.

No. 22 PRINCETON 75, HAMPTON 63

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Vanessa Smith scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Princeton remained one of four unbeaten teams in women's basketball after a win over Hampton.

Earlier in the day, Princeton moved into The Associated Press poll for only the second time in school history. The Tigers earned the first-ever ranking for an Ivy League team in the final poll of the 2012 season.

Michelle Miller had 15 points for Princeton (16-0) and Blake Dietrick added 12. The Tigers trailed by seven points in the first half, matching their largest deficit of the season.

Malia Tate-DeFreitas led Hampton (5-9) with 23 points. Kyani White had 19 points and Ryan Jordan 10. The Lady Pirates were held to 20-of-63 shooting (31.7 percent).

Top-ranked South Carolina, No. 3 Texas and 14th-ranked Mississippi State are the only other teams not to lose a game yet this season.
