Lincoln teams drop two games to Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers scored the first five points of the game Saturday afternoon, but things went downhill from there as Emporia State went on to post a 75-54 victory in MIAA men's basketball action.

Emporia State came back to tie the game at 9 before going on a run to take a 36-19 advantage into halftime.

Joshua Buie led Lincoln with 16 points, while Victor Scott chipped in with 14. Aaron Spudich pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for the Blue Tigers.

Lincoln finished with 24 turnovers to just 10 for Emporia State.

Terrance Moore finished with 20 points for Emporia State. Jevon Taylor added 13 for the winners, while Micah Swank had 11 and Terrance Sardin chipped in with 10.

Lincoln (4-10, 1-4 MIAA) is back in action Monday at Pittsburg State. Emporia State is now 8-5, 1-3.

In the women's game, Emporia State jumped out to a 21-5 lead on its way to a 99-57 victory Saturday against Lincoln.

Emporia State, ranked No. 1 in Division II, took a 56-27 advantage into halftime. Lincoln got no closer than 27 points in the second half.

Dorian Briggs finished with 14 points to lead Lincoln.

Kelsey Barnwell led four Emporia State players in double figures with 25 points. Addie Lackey added 12, while Kelly Moten and Megan Holloway chipped in with 11 points each.

Lincoln (6-5, 1-4) is back in action Monday at Pittsburg State, currently ranked No. 5 in the country.

Emporia State, which was 11-of-20 on 3-pointers in the game, is now 11-0, 4-0.
