Driver accused of fleeing deadly crash is released

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Police have released a man accused of fleeing from a deadly New Year's Eve crash in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1AnLFjM) reports that Xander Wohlstadter was killed about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday as he was driving with a 16-year-old coffee shop co-worker. Police said another vehicle ran a red light and struck Wohlstadter's vehicle, killing the 20-year-old and critically injuring his teen passenger.

The impact of the accident pushed Wohlstadter's vehicle into another that was stopped at the traffic light. A 62-year-old passenger in the third vehicle was injured and listed in stable condition.

Police said the 26-year-old driver accused of causing the crash jumped out of his vehicle and ran. Prosecutors are considering the case against the fleeing man, who was arrested a short time after the collision.
