Local man charged in connection with drug deal

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with an undercover drug deal that occurred in March 2012.

Lawrence Mosely, 31, of 1224 Miller St., is charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana, second-degree assault of a law enforcement officer and unlawful use of a weapon.

A Missouri Highway Patrol probable cause statement shows an undercover officer bought a bag of marijuana from Mosely for $130 in the 800 block of Jackson Street. While trying to get into a vehicle with Mosely, he pulled out a black semi automatic pistol, pointed it at the ceiling of the vehicle and directed the undercover officer to stay outside of the vehicle.

The second sale occurred at what was then Motel 6 on Jefferson Street with the undercover officer again paying Mosely $130 for a bag of marijuana.

Another man involved in these sales was taken into custody this week and when interviewed by authorities identified Mosely as the seller.
