Law enforcement raises money for Special Olympics

Jefferson City Police Sgt. Jason Payne will take to the top of the Doubletree Hotel in Jefferson City, along with Capt. John Wheeler from the Cole County Sheriff's Department, at 6 a.m. Tuesday through 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Cops on Top raises awareness and funding for Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run program. Payne and Wheeler are especially out to raise awareness of the Polar Plunge, being held in Osage Beach on Feb. 28.

All proceeds stay in the Central Missouri area and benefit more than 2,600 athletes.

Donations can be made at the Doubletree Hotel on Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
