College Softball: Columbia drops two

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Columbia College softball team dropped two games Saturday, Day Two of the Oklahoma Baptist Valentine Festival.

In the Cougars' second game of the day, Paige Kleffner (Blair Oaks High School) singled in a run in the seventh as Columbia attempted a comeback, but the rally couldn't keep going, and the Cougars fell to St. Gregory's (Okla.) 9-3.

Earlier that day, Columbia fell 3-1 to University of Science and Arts (Okla.).

Friday, the Cougars split their season opener. Dakota Newton (Jefferson City High School) scored in the third inning of a 7-4 win against Bethany (Kan.). Columbia fell to No. 21 Oklahoma Baptist 7-3 in the nightcap.

The Cougars (1-3) play Friday in Conway, Ark., against Evangel University.
