Man arrested after burglary, chase

An Illinois man is facing multiple charges in connection with a weekend burglary in Cole County.

Adam McCoy, 41, is charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and careless and imprudent driving.

According to the Cole County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred at 11:57 p.m. at Precision Power Sports, 10103 Marina Road.

While responding to the burglary, a deputy noticed a vehicle exit the business lot.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, McCoy, failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit went onto U.S. 50/63 east toward Osage County and McCoy lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled one-and-a-half times onto its side before coming to rest back upright on all four wheels.

McCoy kept driving and the pursuit went into Osage County. He turned onto a side road and got onto U.S. 63 heading back into Cole County.

Tire spikes on the highway brought McCoy's vehicle to a stop along U.S. 50 just west of Shamrock Road.

He was taken into custody and it was discovered the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen.
