U.S. 63 open near Vienna: I-55 and I-44 still closed around St. Louis

U.S. 63 just south of Vienna in Maries County is open after being closed due to flooding.

However, I-55 is closed at St. Louis/Jefferson County Line and I-44 remains closed in St. Louis County

Both directions of 55 are closed at the Meramec River, mile marker 193.

The duration of closure is unknown.

Missouri 231/Telegraph is the only crossing open between the counties so the alternate route at this time is 231 to US 61/67 to Imperial Main St.

Both directions of I-44 remain closed in St. Louis County between I-270 in St. Louis County and Missouri 100 at Gray Summit in Franklin County due to flooding of the Meramec River at Missouri 141.

The closure is between mile marker 253 and 274 and is expected to last a few days.

With many other roads closed in the St. Louis area, the open roads are experiencing extreme congestion.

Interstate travelers can use I-57 in Illinois to cross the Mississippi River at Sikeston and reconnect to I-55.

Motorists needing to travel across Missouri are encouraged to use I-70 to I-49 in Kansas City to I-44 in Joplin or the reverse depending on eastbound or westbound travel.

With more than 200 roads under water throughout the state, drivers are encouraged to check MoDOT's Traveler Information Map, located at modot.org, or call the department's toll free number, 1-888-ASK-MODOT, to get updated information on road conditions.
